5 Ways To Dress For Comfort And Still Look Cute

When moms start talking about comfortable clothes, people automatically think of yoga pants and sweat shirts. The concept of being comfortable and cute at the same time rarely comes to mind. But have you ever noticed that celebrities always look absolutely adorable even when they’re dressed down in their comfort clothes? This means that it really is possible for you to also be comfortable and still look cute. Here are 5 tips to help you look chic while still being super comfy!

I get it. Being a mom changes things a little. Between getting healthy meals on the table every day, making sure you attend all of your kids’ activities, and still having enough energy to get everything done at work, life can get a little hectic. So on your down days you just want to relax - and the last thing that you want to do is to get dressed up in some stupid stuffy clothes.

But what if you could actually be super comfortable and still look absolutely glamorous? Celebrities do it all the time and so can you. Here are 5 tips to get you started!

  1. Remember that shoes are important. You can have the cutest outfit in the world on, but if you wear the wrong shoes, they will totally blow it. Also, if your shoes are not comfortable then you’re probably going to have a pretty miserable day. So, what’s a girl to do? The answer is to create balance. If you like the way heels look but you find them to be utterly uncomfortable then try wearing a wedge shoe instead. Wedges give you the height and feel of a heel with the comfort of a sneaker. If flats are more of your thing, then instead of dashing around in sneakers, try investing in a pair of high quality ballet style slippers. They are ultra cute and totally comfortable. And if sneakers are a must for you, then you might want to try to color coordinate. Red sneakers paired with a red top are much trendier looking than just your average old white tennis sneakers.
  2. Oversized t-shirts are NOT the way to go. Yes, big t-shirts are super comfortable but unfortunately, they aren’t all that cute. The alternative is to pick one or the other. If you want to wear a t-shirt then choose a fitted t-shirt that keeps its shape. Even better, you could invest in some washable knits that feel like a t-shirt but look like a blouse. If you’d really prefer wearing something oversized, then that’s okay, but you should choose a button up shirt or a cardigan for that look. These types of tops actually look quite trendy when worn slightly oversized. So you can wear a t-shirt and you can go for the oversized look – you just shouldn’t wear them together.
  3. Choose dark jeans. If jeans are your thing, then opt for darker colored jeans instead of lighter ones. Dark jeans just look more elegant and as an added bonus, they also hide stains better!
  4. Have a selection of “go-to” dresses. This is especially helpful during the summer months when it’s extra hot outside. You can just pop on a dress and you’re good to go. Sun dresses in particular are very comfortable, mostly because they’re so lightweight and they don’t restrict movement the way other dresses can. And they are also really beautiful and chic. Dresses, especially sun dresses, should be a staple in your closet.
  5. Keep lip gloss and some type of accessory on hand. It only takes a couple of extra seconds to glide on some lip gloss and throw on some type of accessory piece. Whether it’s a necklace, a pair of earrings, or a pair of stylish sun glasses, accessories and light makeup will spruce up your outfit quickly without sacrificing comfort.

Who says that you can’t be comfortable and stylish at the same time? You absolutely can and these five tips should help you get started learning how to dress “comfortably chic.”
